It’s been a little over seven years since we’ve heard from singer-songwriter Keri Hilson, musically, but the 35-year-old recently expressed that there’s a reason for that.
In a segment of the ‘Steve Harvey Show’, Hilson spoke with celebrity psychic medium Reginald Lewis, and things got pretty intense and emotional when she confessed that she actually “hit rock bottom” at one point.
It was after Lewis mentioned the passing of Hilson’s paternal grandmother that he revealed shocking revelations about the “Pretty Girl Rock” songbird’s personal life and her departure from music, which stirred up a couple of deep emotions.

While navigating through the ups and downs of life, Hilson says that she’s recently had to walk away from certain people, but she’s only seen that as a way to walk back into her passion.

“It is kind of a comeback because I hit rock bottom a few times,” she admits, fighting back the tears. “I’m crawling back to walking in my purpose and using my gifts.”

Hilson released her sophomore album, ‘No Boys Allowed’, in 2010. Since then, she has acted in a few films, including 2016’s ‘Almost Christmas’ and ‘Love by the 10th Date’, which came out last year.

“I think I had to give up music awhile. I stepped away; I thought it would just be a year,” she chuckles. “I realize now that I’m grateful for all of those years because I have built myself back up!”

Currently, Hilson is still working on releasing her awaited third album, ‘L.I.A.R. (Love Is a Religion). It is rumored that it could be dropping sometime this year.
