Evidence from the police investigation into a woman’s accusation against Nelly has been released, weeks after the case was closed.
Nelly was arrested in October on suspicion of rape and later released. He has denied the allegation, and no charges were filed. Last month, Auburn police closed the investigation after the accuser stopped cooperating with officials. Nelly and his legal team then said they were considering legal action over what they called a false claim. The woman responded with legal documents of her own, claiming his team defamed her.
According to TMZ, surveillance video collected as evidence shows the woman, Monique, leaving the club where the two met. The footage also shows her getting on the tour bus and later leaving the bus to call police.
The evidence also includes both accounts of the night. Nelly told police the encounter was consensual. He also said Monique became upset only after she thought he was involved with one of his dancers, who was on the bus at the time.
Monique told police that Nelly assaulted her. She also said the rapper offered her $2,500 to stay on the bus until they reached their destination, that she refused the money, and that he then threw $100 at her. According to TMZ, Nelly says he handed her the cash.
