Actress Uma Thurman Details Harvey Weinstein Attack

Longtime actress Uma Thurman has finally chosen to break her silence on something that has tormented her for decades.

In an interview with the New York Times, Thurman–who worked with Harvey Weinstein on both ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Kill Bill’, detailed the events that led up to her being sexually assaulted by the film producer-and she held nothing back.

“I knew him pretty well before he attacked me. He used to spend hours talking to me about material and complimenting my mind and validating me,” she said. “It possibly made me overlook [the] warning signs.”

However, things became a little strange during a meeting at his hotel room in Paris. The two were debating over a script when Weinstein told her to follow him down the hall.

“I didn’t feel threatened,” she admitted, referring to the bathrobe that Weinstein was wearing. “I thought he was being super idiosyncratic like this was your kooky, eccentric uncle.”

Subsequently, they arrived at a steam room, and she says that he then appeared to be off his rocker a bit. “I said, ‘This is ridiculous. What are you doing?’ He was getting very flustered and mad, and he jumped up and ran out.’”

But, the first “attack” didn’t actually happen until she visited Weinstein’s suite at the Savoy Hotel in London. “It was such a bat to the head. He pushed me down. He tried to shove himself on me. He tried to expose himself. He did all kinds of unpleasant things. But, he didn’t actually put his back into it and force me,” she told the publication.

The next day, Weinstein had flowers sent to Thurman’s friend’s home–which was where she was staying at the time. After receiving calls from his assistants, she and her friend, Ilona Herman, went to go confront Weinstein at the hotel’s bar.

Upon arrival, he convinced her to come upstairs alone to discuss what was said to be a “misunderstanding,” instead. Feeling pressured, she agreed.

Her last words before the incident were, “If you do what you did to me to other people you will lose your career, your reputation, and your family, I promise you,” but she doesn’t remember much after that.

“She was very disheveled and so upset and had this blank look,” Herman recalled. “Her eyes were crazy, and she was totally out of control. I shoveled her into the taxi and we went home to my house. She was really shaking.”

It was later learned that Weinstein had also threatened to “derail Thurman’s career.”
