After Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette was badly injured during the second quarter of the Seahawks-Cowboys game yesterday, players from both teams swarmed the field to check on him. One person that noticeably did not was Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, and Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett took offense to it.
“I know our coach would’ve did the same thing, so I thought that was a classless play by him,” Bennett told the Dallas Morning News. “That’s super scary because at the end of the day you guys talk about this or talk about that but at the end of the day it’s just a game. I don’t think people realize that. You guys take it a little bit too far. This guy has three kids.”
Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant also came under fire by the media and fans for his reaction after the hit on Lockette. After the injury happened, the cameras caught an angry Bryant yelling and cursing and it appeared as if he was talking trash to Seahawks players, specifically defensive end Bruce Irvin.
Dez was unhappy with the way he was portrayed by the media and cleared everything up after the game, saying, “Not once did I say, ‘That’s what you get.’ I got on one knee and prayed for that man. Don’t put clips together and do that. That didn’t have anything to do with them. I would never in my life do that to anybody. I’m too busy trying to break it up, get our players back.” Bruce Irvin also backed up Bryant and said that he was yelling at the officials and he definitely was not making fun of Lockette’s injury.
