For those unfamiliar with what a rider is, a rider is a list of things an artist must have provided before they agree to perform or appear at your event. Sometime’s it’s simple stuff like bottled water and a few liquor bottles, other times it’s ridiculous demands like green M&M’s. TMZ supposedly got their hands on the riders for Jay Z and his “Watch The Throne” co-star, Kanye West. If this rider is real, here’s how the two hip-hop kings measure up.
THE SUITE:
Jay Z
– 71 degree temperature
– Hotel staff must provide 3 $80 Mayan tuberose-scented candles
– No vacuuming near his room
– Don’t ask for concert tickets if you want to “avoid embarrassment.”
Kanye
– Vases must be cylindrical
– He requires staff to hunt down a Genelecs 1031a speaker … which was discontinued a decade ago
– Mint floss

THE LIQUOR:
Jay Z
– just Ace of Spades champagne (he cannot be charged for it, since he owns the company)
Kanye
– 13 bottles of liquor totaling around $3,200, including 3 bottles of Paradis Hennessy.
