In a longstanding legal battle over the rights to Beyoncé’s firstborn daughter’s name, the motive behind the initial opposition has been exposed.

According to the @blast, event planner Veronica Morales opposed Beyoncé’s “Blue Ivy Carter” trademark filing to sell a variety of products, as she believed it was too close to her own Blue Ivy company. In an attempt to settle the legal dispute, the superstar’s legal team organized a meeting between the two parties.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Morales offered to drop the trademark opposition in exchange for $10 million. According to docs obtained by the publication, Beyoncé’s legal team claims the woman even offered to give up her company, as well, claiming to want to treat the opposition as an “opportunity for a business relationship rather than an adversarial proceeding.”

In fact, the woman laid out an elaborate business plan that would ultimately leave Beyonce with a new wedding planning business, the “Blue Ivy” trademark and a new business partner in Morales. However, Beyoncé’s team respectfully declined the offer and turned the tables on Morales.

Now, according to the publication, the superstar’s lawyers want Morales to turn over all the evidence of the business proposal, including her PowerPoint presentation, to back their claim that the entire trademark ordeal was all for the money.
