On behalf of Turner Classic Movies, iconic actress Cicely Tyson will be honored with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese theater in Hollywood.

On April 27, Tyson will join the likes of several legendary actors like Joan Crawford, Bette Davis and John Wayne on Hollywood’s pavement during the ninth annual TCM Classic Film Festival, according to Variety.

We’ve been watching Tyson on television, and in film for over 60 years. With that being said, her resume is one of the most extensive. The 93-year-old actress was first discovered by an Ebony photographer and became a well-known fashion model. She then booked her first acting gig on the NBC series “Frontiers of Faith” in 1951.

Her acting led her to an Oscar nomination in 1972’s “Sounder,” and Emmy awards for “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman” for best lead actress in a drama and actress of the year for “The Oldest Living Confederate Widow.” She also won a Tony Award for “The Trip to Bountiful.” Not to mention, she briefly blessed our eyes with her performance in the groundbreaking series #Roots, and she is a woman of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Tyson has been an image of Black womanhood for decades and her legacy continues to grow. Tyson’s celebration will be TCM’s eighth consecutive year its featured a hand and footprint ceremony at the Chinese theater.
