Spike Lee’s film “BlacKkKlansman” is about the first black police officer in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is set to hit U.S. theaters on August 10th of this year.

The release date is just two days before the one year anniversary of the protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, where white nationalists and opposing protestors were at odds over the decision to remove Confederate monuments in the city.  The event became drastically violent when a white supremacist drove his car into the crowd of opposing protestors resulting in the death of one woman and the injuries of several more.

The Jordan Peele directed film follows the story of Ron Stallworth who went undercover in 1978 to penetrate the Ku Klux Klan.  In the film, Stallworth and his partner are able to infiltrate the Klan, sabotage multiple cross burnings, stop the takeover of the city, and more.

John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, and Topher Grace are some of the stars you can expect to see in the film.
