MTV Is Bringing Back “YO! MTV Raps”

MTV is coming back on y’all!! First, ”TRL” and now the network has announced the resurgence of “YO! MTV Raps”.  The show will be reinvented for fans of a new generation to enjoy via a linear and digital series across its platforms.

 

The show originally debuted on August 6th, 1988 and immediately became the hip-hop hub!  The show pioneered the rise of hip-hop and helped foster a genuine appreciation of the genre.  This year marks the 30 year anniversary since its debut and on Friday, June 1st  to kick off the return of the show they will be airing the “YO! MTV Raps: 30th Anniversary Experience” from the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.  The program will be streamed by MTV.

 

Old school legends like Big Daddy Kane and the Juice Crew, Eric B & Rakim, Doug E. Fresh, KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions, Fat Joe, Yo-Yo, Onyx, EPMD, Flavor Flav, YBT Tap the bottle reunion, Black Sheep, DAS EFX, Special Ed, Pharcyde, Brand Nubian, Nice & Smooth, Melle Mel & The Furious Five, Kid Capri, DJ Skribble, Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover, Doctor Dré, T-Money and others will light up the stage!
