Rapper Too Short has filed a lawsuit for defamation and slander against a woman who accused him of sexual assault, according to reports from TMZ in late April 2018.
The woman, named Teana in court filings, is an aspiring artist who accused the Bay Area rapper of assaulting her on multiple occasions between June and October of 2016. She went public with her allegations and also filed a police report and a civil lawsuit. Prosecutors declined to file criminal charges against Too Short.
Too Short denies the accusations. Through his attorneys, Rob Reichman and Sean Macias, he says the two only cuddled a few times and never had sex. He has also pointed to text messages that he says show the two shared a mutual interest, and he believes the police report was false.
In his suit, Too Short claims her public statements damaged his reputation and caused business partners to back out of deals. His attorneys say all he ever wanted was to help her launch her music career, and that when it did not work out, he wished her well and moved on.
These are the claims made in the lawsuit, which had not been decided by a court at the time of this report. Teana has maintained that her account is true.
