A new Netflix original movie has begun production, and it’s starring Anthony Anderson.
The entertainment company announced that “Beats” had begun filming in locations across Chicago.
The movie will actually be based on the city’s hip-hop scene. Anthony is set to star as a former popular artist manager who “fell from grace.” Anthony’s co-star will be 17-year-old Khalil Everage, who is a native of Chicago’s historic Southside.
According to producers, filmmakers chose to go with “authenticity over experience” when it came to bringing on the young actor.

The movie is set to be a reflection of Chicago’s hip-hop scene and the members of its society. “Beats” is set to be released next year.
