Just two days after the ninth anniversary of the death of the legendary Michael Jackson, his father and patriarch of the famous family, has died.
Last week, Joe Jackson was hospitalized with terminal cancer which prompted his family to rush to his bedside. The successful manager had been battling the illness for some time, but it recently advanced to its end stages.
On Wednesday morning, surrounded by his wife, some of his children and grandchildren, Jackson passed in L.A.
Jackson was best known for catapulting the careers of The Jackson 5, Michael and Janet Jackson. In fact, in 2012, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honored him as Best Entertainment Manager of All Time. Although there was much tension between the patriarch and his children for abusive parenting and management, in 2013 he said, “I’m glad I was tough, because look what I came out with. I came out with some kids that everybody loved all over the world. And they treated everybody right.”
Now in his passing, he leaves behind his wife, Katherine, his children and several grandchildren.
He was 89.
