“Better late than never, but never late is better” – Drake
Looks like Dame Dash’s aggressive approach worked, as Lee Daniels has agreed to pay off his $2 million debt.
After a heated debate at a recent #DianaRoss concert over the unpaid debt, followed by a lawsuit for the $2 million plus interest, Daniels believes the two can settle their dispute without incident.
When it came to Dame’s approach, it did make Daniels uncomfortable, but it also opened the filmmaker’s eyes to the music mogul’s point of view.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Well, I was uncomfortable,” Daniels told Raq Rants. “It was a very uncomfortable thing. It made me think. I thought…he was hurt.”

“When nobody in Hollywood was giving money after my Academy Award, nobody was giving me money,” he said. “Damon’s crazy ass was crazy enough to give me money for “The Woodsman” and for “Shadowboxer” and the investment for “Shadowboxer” didn’t pay off.”

But, as Daniels continued, his terminology led Raq to believe the money Dame gave up was not something he should have expected back, especially since it was “an investment, not a loan.”

“It was an investment, but I looked him in the eyes and told him that ‘You would get your investment back,” he said. “This black man gave me money when nobody, not Disney, not Sony, not Paramount, not Warner Bros., for a film. He did it. And so for that, he deserves his money.”

“He believed in me when nobody else did, and for that he deserves it. It’s personal to me,” Daniels said, as he acknowledged Dame’s contribution to his career.

“I don’t know if I’d be successful if it weren’t for him,” Daniels said, adding that he will squash the beef with Dame because it’s “the right thing to do.”
