Another day, another white person risking his/her livelihood to humiliate black people with the threat of law enforcement for living.
In the most recent incident, which occurred on Friday in Chicago, a manager at CVS on North Broadway phoned officials on a black woman for trying to use a coupon that he’d never seen before.
In fact, Camilla Hudson detailed the entire incident on Facebook, including the aftermath, which showed the manager, identified as Morry Matson, shaking in his attempt to explain the reason for his call to officials.
“So, THIS just happened,” Hudson wrote. “I had the police called one for attempting to use a coupon at CVS Pharmacy. I stopped in to make a purchase using a coupon mailed to me by the product manufacturer, as replacement for problematic/defective product.”
However, as she continued, she said Matson believed the coupon was fake, since he’d never seen anything like it before.
“When I asked for misname and his title/role within the store, he became agitated and rude. When I pulled out my phone to document what happened and exactly what he’d said to me (AND how he’d said it!) he turned his back and walked away from me. When I followed him and demanded that he answer my question, he ran to the back of the store and slammed a door in my face.”
As the incident escalated, another store manager returned to warn Hudson of Matson’s attempt to involve officials. But, according to Hudson, she was unbothered by the threats.
“Apparently, they’d hung up on him the first time he called, so he had to call them back a second time, telling the 911 dispatcher that I was harassing them. Three tactical unit officers arrived and, after some conversation and documenting their names, badge numbers, etc. I eventually left the store.”
Since the incident, Hudson has proclaimed that the incident is not over. And as it turns out, she was right. Now, CVS has apologized and launched an investigation, and Matson has been exposed.
The manager describes himself as a Log Cabin Republican of Illinois, who is running for 48th Ward alderman. Oddly enough, one of his promises is “increased police presence throughout Alderman Matson’s 48th Ward.”
