Over the weekend, a nine-year-old entrepreneur was robbed at gunpoint, while working his organic lemonade stand in his North Carolina neighborhood.
The incident occurred on Saturday in Monroe when a suspect, who officials described as a “teenage black male wearing a camouflage hat and black shirt,” approached Mark David with a gun.
Officials say, “the suspect allegedly stuck a black handgun to the boy’s stomach, demanded money and fled the scene on foot,” as David escaped with his life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The thief made off with $17 dollars.

Though officials were able to locate a trail in the woods near the scene of the crime, where “a camouflage hat, a black colored BB handgun, and the stolen metal tin were recovered,” a suspect has not been identified.

Despite the traumatic event, David returned to his lemonade stand the following day, as his father explained to his son that “bad things do happen to good people and you never know when it’s going to happen to you.”

David had been working his lemonade stand to save money for a riding lawnmower for his “other” business. But after hearing of the unfortunate incident, a local Lowe’s donated the boy a lawnmower.
