50 Cent Defends His “Fake News” Comment In Legal Battle With HipHopDX, Demands Lawsuit Be Tossed

As the legal battle continues between 50 Cent and HipHopDX over 50’s claims of “Fake News,” the rapper is looking to clear his name, or at least, plead his case.

It all started after the rapper-turned-entrepreneur claimed to have sold the trademark to his now-viral catchphrase, “Get The Strap,” which the hip-hop news site claimed to be untrue.

In turn, 50 took to Instagram to condemn the site for their false claims. He also threatened to sue the company for using a photo of him without his permission — a threat he followed through with shortly after.

However, the website quickly fired back with a lawsuit of their own, accusing the rapper of ruining their reputation by classifying them as “fake news.” But now, in his response, 50 Cent says he did absolutely nothing wrong.

In fact, according to The Blast, 50 claims the website threatened his first amendment right to free speech with their lawsuit, which is why he says the suit should be tossed. But, if the suit is allowed to continue on, it would “open a floodgate of defamation suits by news organizations against the very subjects of their news reports for simply criticizing or refuting the reports as ‘fake news.”

At the end of the day, 50 says he is actually working on a deal with Bellator MMA, so HipHopDX’s story is, in fact, “fake news,” so the suit should be dismissed completely.
