Four-Year-Old Georgia Boy Left In Hot Day Care Van; Honks Horn Until Rescued

Police have arrested day care workers in Southwest Atlanta, after leaving a four-year-old in a hot day care van for about 45-minutes.

A woman in the area found the little boy in the vehicle on July 2 after she kept hearing the honking of the horn going off like someone was trying to get someone’s attention.

The unidentified woman told investigators that the toddler had taken off his shirt and his shoes and could tell that his body was beginning to overheat. The woman returned the child to the day care workers, “the day care staff did not seek the child any medical attention once located,” police said.

According to WSBTV and the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, Evelyn Redmond Christian Academy was not licensed. The day care facility had a special exemption where they’re allowed to have a certain number of children between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The little boy was found after those hours around 3 p.m., according to police.

Pamela Bryant, the driver of the van, was charged with reckless conduct and released on a $1,500 bond.

Ashley Jordan, Shanan Shealey, and Starshemoha Baty were arrested and charged this week with 2nd-degree cruelty to children. The ladies have since been released on bond from $5,000-$10,000.
