HipHopDX Pulls Receipts In Lawsuit Against 50 Cent Over The Alleged Sale of the Catchphrase, “Get The Strap”

As the legal battle between 50Cent and HipHopDx continues over claims of fake news and the illegal use of photos, the website is pulling receipts to support its claims.

Last month, HipHopDX filed a $3 million defamation lawsuit against 50 Cent over an Instagram post, where he accused the website of reporting “fake news” in an article about the sale of his trademark, “Get the Strap.”

After the rapper claimed he secured a million-dollar deal with Bellator MMA for the catchphrase, the website refuted his claim, prompting 50’s “fake news” response.

In the legal battle between the two, the website claimed 50 tarnished their reputation with his claim, while 50 said the website threatened his first amendment rights with their lawsuit. He also said he was actually working on a deal with Bellator MMA, which means HipHopDX’s story was indeed, “fake news.”

But now, in new court documents obtained by The @Blast, the popular website says 50’s argument is null and void, especially since Bellator confirmed that the alleged deal was all a lie.

“Freedom of speech is not served when a celebrity tells disparaging lies about a media company in retaliation for truthful, but unfavorable coverage,” the site said in the new docs, highlighting a direct quote from a Bellator MMA spokesperson, who said “50’s post isn’t true.”

As HipHopDX continued, the site maintained its article was accurate in revealing 50 did not sell the catchphrase. As a result, the website wants its defamation suit against 50 to continue.
