Earlier this month, “America’s Got Talent” judge and former Spice Girl Mel B reached a settlement in the long, bitter divorce from Stephen Belafonte.
However, the agreement did not come without consequence. In fact, the two fought over claims of abuse, sexual exploitation, blackmail, infidelity and custody of their children, as well as Mel’s own daughter.
But, after years of back and forth the two agreed to settle their differences and share custody of their daughter. Now, with the weight of the divorce behind her, the former Spice Girl is focusing on herself, specifically her mental health.
In fact, according to the Huffington Post, Mel will be admitting herself into a rehab facility, amid her struggles with sex, alcohol and post-traumatic stress syndrome.
“I am being very honest about drinking to numb my pain but that is just a way a lot of people mask what is really going on,” Mel reportedly told The Sun. “Sometimes it is too hard to cope with all the emotions I feel. But the problem has never been about sex or alcohol – it is underneath all that.”
As she continued, she revealed that while working on her memoir “Brutally Honest,” she’s been having a hard time reliving her past, from her “emotionally abusive relationship,” to the “massive issues” she’s overcome in her life.
“I am working on being a better version of myself for my kids – whom I love more than life itself – and for all the people who have supported me,” she told the tabloid.
According to the publication, Mel is expected to check into rehab next month.
