Barack Obama is headed to the streets of Los Angeles, literally.
According to CBS News, L.A.’s city council has voted to rename Rodeo Road to Obama Boulevard. On Tuesday night, Los Angeles mayor, Eric Garcetti announced the news via Twitter.
“It’s official: our City Council has voted to rename Rodeo Road to Obama Boulevard! We’re thrilled that Angelenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President Barack Obama when traveling across L.A.,” he wrote.
The news reports Rodeo Road is located in a residential area of the city with several schools and recreation centers adjacent to the Crenshaw neighborhood.
In 2008, Garcetti served as a California co-chair during Obama’s presidential campaign. He later endorsed Garcetti during his 2017 re-election campaign, where he called him “friend, loyal ally and a great and visionary mayor of Los Angeles.”
