Former White House intern, Monica Lewinsky, sat down for an interview with Yonit Levi, a reporter for Channel 2 News in #Jerusalem, after she opened up at an Israeli conference about her controversial past in the White House. However, the interview was cut short after Lewinsky was asked about the topic she deemed “off limits” prior to the Live interview.
The interviewer’s very first question was whether or not Lewinsky still expected an apology from former President #BillClinton, although Clinton himself said earlier this year he felt he did not owe her a personal apology. After the question was asked, Lewinsky simply replied, “I’m so sorry, I’m not going to be able to do this,” before putting her mic down and walking off the stage.
Afterward, Monica took to #Twitter to explain her abrupt departure from the interview stating, “After a talk today on the perils and positives of the Internet, there was to be a 15-minute conversation to follow up on the subject of my speech (not a news interview). There were clear parameters about what we would be discussing and what we would not,” Lewinsky wrote. “In fact, the exact question the interviewer asked first, she had put to me when we met the day prior. I said that was off limits. When she asked me it on the stage, with blatant disregard of our agreement, it became clear to me that I had been misled.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unfortunately, Channel 2 News didn’t feel they owed her an apology either but did thank Lewinsky for her appearance and gave a statement saying, “we respect her sensitivity and wish her luck.”
