Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is making a major move in court to protect his reputation in the case regarding his one-year-old daughter, Aubri.
According to new legal documents, the 24-year-old athlete believes influencer Ayesha Howard is intentionally using the press to “manufacture media exposure as leverage against Anthony.”
The legal battle has turned into a war of words, with Edwards claiming Howard has “orchestrated a coordinated media campaign” to push him toward a settlement that a judge would likely never grant. Edwards’ team argues that Howard’s filings are designed to create a “fresh peg for media coverage” that exposes his private life and costs him hundreds of thousands in legal fees.
According to the filing, Howard’s demands go far beyond standard child support. Edwards alleges she is seeking a $500,000 lump-sum payment, lifetime financial support, and a public apology on his social media accounts. His lawyers didn’t hold back, calling the moves “extortionate” and claiming she is using the court process as a “pressure mechanism.”
The “Starting 5” star is also calling out Howard’s residency, alleging she doesn’t live in California, the state where she filed the case. He believes she is dragging out the process and refusing to mediate just to drive up his defense costs until he eventually gives in to whatever she wants.
The filings, the media campaign, the parallel proceedings in two states, the refusal to comply with discovery, and the refusal to mediate are all designed to make the cost of defending so high that Anthony will pay whatever Ayesha demands to make it stop,” the docs claim.
Edwards is now asking the court to seal the case for good. He noted that their daughter is too young to handle her “full name, her health details, and the intimate circumstances of her birth” being blasted across the internet.
