Beyoncé Laughs Off Stage Glitch After Suspended Car Nearly Tips Mid-Air in Houston: “Sittin’ Sidewayz”

Beyoncé’s Houston show didn’t go exactly as planned, but only she could turn a stage mishap into a viral moment that felt like a love letter to her city.

While performing at NRG Stadium on Saturday, things took an unexpected turn during her “16 Carriages” set. A suspended red convertible prop, meant to float her above the crowd, started to tip while she was mid-performance. The angle became more dramatic by the second, and it looked like the entire stunt might go off the rails.

Beyoncé was locked in. She grabbed a nearby flagpole and braced herself, then calmly told the crew, “Stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop.” The music faded, the lift came down slowly, and she stepped back onstage without missing a beat. Early Monday, she posted a perfectly timed reel on Instagram using Paul Wall and Big Pokey’s “Sittin’ Sidewayz” as the soundtrack.

The video showed her hovering awkwardly in the air, cut together with slow-motion clips that leaned into the moment. It was clear she wasn’t rattled; she was in on the joke.

Once she touched the ground in real time, Beyoncé smiled at the crowd and said, “If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me.” She closed the moment with a nod to her roots, posting a photo later that night with a caption that simply read, “I love you, Houston.”

Parkwood Entertainment later confirmed the prop failed due to a technical glitch. But the next show brought a new twist: “16 Carriages” was gone from the setlist completely. Fans noticed immediately.

What could’ve been a major problem ended up being another example of how Beyoncé never loses her cool, even when the stage literally tilts beneath her.
