Bone Thugs N Harmony Finally Gets Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star For A Sound That Changed Rap

Bone Thugs N Harmony are officially getting their flowers on Hollywood Boulevard, and the moment feels bigger than a plaque in the pavement.

Bone Thugs N Harmony will receive the 2,851st star on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. PT at 6126 Hollywood Boulevard, with the honor landing in the Recording category. The Hollywood Walk of Fame also confirmed that radio personality Big Boy will emcee the ceremony and Xzibit will join as a guest speaker.

For a group that came out of Cleveland in the early 90s and made the industry bend toward its sound, the Hollywood Walk of Fame honor arrives as a full-circle moment. According to the official announcement, the group described the recognition as a “blessing beyond words,” while making it clear that the star represents their families, their city, their fans, and everyone who believed in them from the beginning.

Krayzie Bone also shared the emotion of the moment on Instagram, writing, “This is bigger than us this is for the fans,” as he acknowledged the supporters who have stayed with Bone Thugs N Harmony since day one.

Long before the Hollywood Walk of Fame called, Bone Thugs N Harmony were five Cleveland artists with a sound that did not fit neatly into the industry’s coastal boxes. The group formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1991 and consists of Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh n Bone. The group became known for rapid-fire rap delivery, melodic harmonies, and emotional storytelling. This combination separated them from the pack at a time when New York and Los Angeles were heavily defining hip hop.

Their rise is inseparable from Eazy E and Ruthless Records. The group originally performed under the name B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e before Eazy E discovered them and signed them to Ruthless Records in 1993. That connection gave the Cleveland group a national platform, but what happened next was not industry luck. Bone Thugs brought a sound so distinct that their voices became the instrument, their flows became percussion, and their harmonies gave street narratives a spiritual weight.

The breakthrough came with “Creepin on ah Come Up,” the 1994 EP that introduced a wider audience to records like “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” and “Foe tha Love of $.”  The hit, “Thuggish Ruggish Bone,” was a Hot 100 entry that reached No. 22, showing how early the group’s street-level sound crossed into mainstream chart space.

By 1995, Bone Thugs were no longer just bubbling. They were changing the temperature. The group released “E. 1999 Eternal” in 1995, which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album became a four-million seller and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.

That album also gave Bone Thugs their defining record.  “Tha Crossroads” was created as a tribute to Eazy E after his death in 1995. The song topped the chart and won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 39th Annual Grammy Awards.

The impact of “Tha Crossroads” still matters because it showed how grief, gospel-shaped melody, and rap could meet without weakening each other. Bone Thugs did not have to abandon the edge of their music to make something emotional. Instead, they made mourning feel communal.

Bone Thugs continued that momentum with “The Art of War.” The 1997 album was another No. 1 Billboard 200 project, while “Look Into My Eyes” was a No. 4 Hot 100 single and “If I Could Teach The World” was a No. 27 Hot 100 single. Those numbers help explain why this Hollywood Walk of Fame star is not simply a nostalgia moment. It recognizes a run that produced chart dominance, genre influence, and a catalog that still moves across generations.

For Cleveland, Bone Thugs represented something even deeper. Their success expanded the map for Midwest rap before the region had the mainstream infrastructure that later helped artists from Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, and other cities break through nationally. The group helped bring national attention to Midwestern rap and remains among the most influential hip hop groups of all time.

Their accolades back up that legacy. Bone Thugs N Harmony have one Grammy win and three nominations, including the win for “Tha Crossroads,” a nomination for “1st Of Tha Month,” and a Best Rap Album nomination for “E. 1999 Eternal.” Additional recognition includes American Music Award wins for Favorite Rap Hip Hop Artist and a Soul Train Award for “Tha Crossroads.”

Now, more than three decades after forming, Bone Thugs will step onto Hollywood Boulevard as honorees. The star does not rewrite their story. It confirms what fans have known for years. Bone Thugs N Harmony carried Cleveland into rap history, helped redefine what a rap group could sound like, and gave hip hop some of its most haunting, melodic, and unforgettable records.
