Mental health conversations are taking center stage in South Florida this month as former NFL Super Bowl champion Bryant McKinnie prepares to host another edition of his annual “Cocktails & Conversations” event through the BMajor Foundation.
Set for May 21 at DAER Nightclub inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, the gathering will bring together athletes, influencers, mental health advocates, and community leaders for an evening focused on emotional wellness and breaking long-standing stigmas surrounding mental health in underserved communities.
The event arrives during Mental Health Awareness Month and continues a mission McKinnie has publicly championed for years. Through his nonprofit BMajor Foundation, the former offensive lineman has worked to promote wellness initiatives, mentorship programs, and community outreach centered around healing and personal growth. According to the foundation, the night will include panel discussions, networking opportunities, music, cocktails, and access to mental health resources.
“Mental health conversations are necessary, especially within communities where these discussions have historically been overlooked,” McKinnie said in a statement. “This event is about bringing people together, creating safe spaces, and reminding individuals they are not alone.”
McKinnie has spoken candidly in past interviews about witnessing close friends struggle with mental health challenges and how those experiences pushed him deeper into advocacy work. In a previous interview with the Minnesota Vikings, he stressed the importance of normalizing therapy and emotional support, particularly among men and athletes.
Media check-in for the event begins at 6 p.m., with programming scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
