Although the Cleveland Cavaliers are just one win away from securing their spot in the NBA Finals to face off against the Golden State Warriors for the championship, coach Tyronn Lue is not ready to focus on the future just yet.
Instead, Lue is working overtime to prepare his team to take on the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
On Wednesday, the Cavs coach told reporters that things have become more difficult since the Boston team lost their star point guard, Isaiah Thomas, in Game 2. The team has kicked up their game play against the Cavs, making the team harder to defend than the team’s arch nemesis, the Warriors.
“The stuff they’re running, it’s harder to defend than Golden State’s [offense] for me, as far as the actions and all the running around and all the guys who are making all the plays, so it’s a totally different thing,” Lue said. “Like, they hit the post, Golden State runs splits and all that stuff but these guys are running all kinds of [stuff].”
“And Brad [Stevens] got them moving and cutting and playing with pace and everybody is a threat.”
Lue is not ready to focus on the third consecutive title meeting with the Warriors just yet, as he believes the series between the Cavs and the Celtics is “not over.”
The Cleveland team will face off against the Celtics Thursday night in Boston. Will the Cavs become Eastern Conference Champions?
