A fresh shift in the timeline means Diddy could be walking free sooner than previously expected as his legal fight continues to unfold. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has updated Diddy’s projected release date, trimming another 10 days off his sentence. He is now scheduled to be released on April 15, 2028, after earlier dates of April 25, 2028, and June 4, 2028 were listed. The adjustments follow a series of changes over recent months that have steadily shortened his time behind bars.
Diddy, 56, is serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The charges stem from a federal trial in New York, where he was acquitted of more serious allegations, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
He is currently housed at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, a placement his legal team requested. His attorney, Teny Geragos, wrote in a 2025 filing, “In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix.”
The case remains active as Diddy appeals both his conviction and sentence. His attorneys argue the encounters were consensual and recently described his sentence as a “perversion of justice,” pushing for “immediate release and a judgment of acquittal or at least vacate and remand for resentencing.”
Meanwhile, prosecutors maintain the sentence was appropriate, writing, “According to Combs, the district court should have closed its eyes to how he carried out his Mann Act offenses and abused his victims — violently beating them, threatening them, lying to them and plying them with drugs.”
Testimony during the trial included statements from Cassie Ventura and another woman, who alleged orchestrated encounters referred to as “freak-offs.”
Oral arguments are set for April 9.
