Donald Trump says Americans should brace for the realities of war as tensions with Iran escalate, and that includes the possibility of retaliation closer to home.
The warning became a focal point during a new Time magazine cover story, where Trump addressed questions about the growing conflict and what it could mean for Americans. During the interview, Time correspondent Eric Cortellessa asked Trump whether people in the United States should worry about being attacked on American soil.
“I guess,” Trump said when asked if Americans should be concerned. “But I think they’re worried about that all the time. We think about it all the time. We plan for it. But yeah, you know, we expect some things.”
The remarks arrive as the U.S. military conflict with Iran intensifies following a joint U.S. and Israeli strike. The president also acknowledged that casualties are part of war.
“Like I said, some people will die,” Trump said. “When you go to war, some people will die.”
Days before the interview was published on March 5, a retaliatory drone strike killed six U.S. service members stationed overseas. Pentagon officials identified five of the fallen troops as Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa; and Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa.
Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, California, is believed to be the sixth service member killed in the strike, according to the Pentagon.
Meanwhile, the broader regional conflict continues to expand. More than 1,000 people are believed to have died across the Middle East since fighting escalated earlier this week.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society said emergency relief teams have been deployed across 153 counties to respond to the devastation as rescue operations continue.

Isn’t this his fault?
In other words he couldn’t care less either way, no surprises here.
