Former NBA champion Dwight Howard has filed for divorce from his wife, Amber Howard, also known publicly as Amy Luciani, following a wave of dramatic accusations she posted online over the weekend.
Court documents filed Monday show Howard formally petitioned for divorce in Georgia, listing January 11, 2025, as the couple’s marriage date. In the filing, the former Los Angeles Lakers center stated the marriage is “irretrievably broken” and indicated there is no chance for reconciliation.
The documents also note the couple does not share any children together. Howard additionally requested exclusive use of his Georgia mansion as part of the divorce proceedings.
The filing came shortly after Luciani posted a video to Instagram where she made serious allegations involving Howard’s family. In the clip, she claimed Child Protective Services had taken one of Howard’s daughters. At this time, that claim has not been independently confirmed.
Representatives for Howard have not publicly responded to the accusations.
The couple’s relationship has seen multiple public ups and downs since they first went public with their engagement. In July 2025, Luciani initially filed for divorce after roughly six months of marriage. However, the case was later withdrawn, suggesting the pair had attempted to reconcile.
Howard also filed his own divorce petition around that same period before dismissing it months later.
Now, with this newest filing, it appears the relationship between Howard and Luciani may be reaching its final chapter after more than a year of highly publicized turbulence surrounding their marriage.
