The legal battle between Future and his ex-girlfriend Brittni Mealy has taken a serious turn. Mealy is now asking a judge to lock up the “Mixtape Pluto” rapper, claiming he has completely ignored a court ordered financial requirement for their son, Prince.
According to a petition filed in Fulton County Superior Court, Future was supposed to set up a $500,000 life insurance policy by August 2023. The agreement, which was part of a larger 2023 court order, named Mealy as the trustee for the policy. Despite the deadline passing over a year and a half ago, Mealy alleges the rapper hasn’t lifted a finger to get it done.
The court documents highlight a long period of silence from the rapper’s camp. “More than eighteen (18) months have passed since the compliance deadline,” Mealy’s petition states. “Despite several written requests over the course of several months, [Future] has failed and refused to comply.”
The 2023 order wasn’t just about insurance; it also saw Future’s child support payments for their 12-year-old jump from $3,000 to $5,000 a month to match his massive success in the music industry. Mealy is now pushing for the court to hold him in contempt, arguing that incarceration is the only way to ensure he follows through with his obligations.
If Future doesn’t respond to the petition within 30 days, he could face a default judgment. For now, the Atlanta star has yet to release a statement or file a response to the claims. Mealy is standing firm, asking the court to keep him in custody until the $500,000 policy is officially in place.
