“Gremlins 3” is officially making its comeback. Warner Bros. confirmed the highly anticipated sequel will hit theaters on November 19, 2027, reuniting some of the franchise’s original creators.
Steven Spielberg is back as executive producer, while Chris Columbus, the screenwriter behind the original, will direct and produce. Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav dropped the news during the studio’s latest investor call. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein are writing the script, and production will be handled by Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario for Amblin Entertainment, along with Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe for 26th Street Pictures.
The first “Gremlins” movie debuted in 1984, introducing audiences to the adorable Mogwai and the chaos that follows when simple rules are broken. The film became a surprise blockbuster, earning over $200 million globally and prompting the creation of the PG-13 rating. Its 1990 sequel, “Gremlins 2: The New Batch,” didn’t pull in the same numbers but became popular among fans.
“Few titles are as beloved and iconic as ‘Gremlins,’ and we’re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation,” said Jesse Ehrman, Warner Bros. Pictures’ president of development and production. “It’s a privilege to be working alongside Steven, Chris, and the entire creative team.”
While the release date is now locked in, details such as casting and storylines remain under wraps.
