Rapper HoneyKomb Brazy can’t seem to stay out of trouble with the law.
The Mobile, Alabama native has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for gun possession. On February 14th, HoneyKomb Brazy, born Nashon Jones, learned his fate after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. This set of legal troubles began on December 18th, 2023, when a traffic stop led police to discover a Girson MC28 SA 9mm pistol and a Smith & Wesson MP 15 AR pistol in a car he was riding in with bodyguards Miguel Wayne Hall and Mason Demetrius Fuller.
A week later, federal authorities took over the case, and Brazy was indicted in January 2024. While Hall pleaded guilty in May, Brazy initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty in July.
During sentencing, the judge encouraged the rapper to use his influence positively.
“I wanted to be a great man,” Brazy said. “I just didn’t know how. … I really want to do right.”
His attorney, Josh Briskman, defended Brazy’s need for security, explaining, “There was no question that Mr. Jones needed security. He has been the target of violence. His family has been the target of violence. His family was actually killed. He had people that were there to protect him… Turns out they were unable to lawfully carry the firearms also.”
Despite having popular songs such as “Under Pressure,” “Dead People,” and “Letter to God,” Brazy’s legal woes and personal life have been the subject of headlines in recent years, overshadowing his talents. In February 2021, his grandparents were killed and their home was set ablaze. His mother’s home had also been shot up after the double murders.
Having been in custody since his arrest, Brazy will receive credit for time served for his latest conviction.
