Kanye West’s evolution into “Ye” is taking center stage in a new feature-length documentary, set to bring his recent years back into the spotlight.

On Tuesday, filmmaker Nico Ballesteros released the first trailer for “In Whose Name?,”  an unfiltered look at Ye that he’s been filming since 2019. The opening scene shows Kim Kardashian tearfully admitting her then-husband’s personality had shifted. The trailer quickly moves through raw footage of Ye, sometimes alongside his children, capturing moments few outside his inner circle have ever seen.

Ballesteros says the journey began when Ye gave him, at just 18 years old, the go-ahead to film him on an iPhone. That access pulled the young filmmaker into Ye’s world, one filled with both chaos and brilliance.

“He gave me the green light,” Ballesteros recalls, signaling the start of years of unprecedented behind-the-scenes access.

While it’s not confirmed if Ye personally approved the documentary’s release strategy, “In Whose Name?” is officially slated to hit theaters on September 19th. The film promises to explore the complexities of the artist’s life during a period marked by personal changes, controversial public statements, and headline-making business moves.
