Kanye West is done with corporate America and is ready to make waves in the industry the Ye way.
After outing Adidas and Gap’s tactics on stealing his designs, specifically the Yeezy slides and the lettered tees, he’s over working with big companies. In an interview with Bloomberg News, Ye said it’s time for him to “go it alone.”
“It’s fine. I made the companies money. The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever. Like the round jacket, the foam runner, the slides that have changed the shoe industry. Now it’s time for Ye to make the new industry. No more companies standing in between me and the audience.”
Despite his deals with Adidas and Gap companies, Ye is willing to publicly shame their hidden agendas– like having meetings about him without him.
Ye’s current contract with Adidas promises he will continue producing Yeezy Boosts 350 until 2026. In comparison, his contract with Gap foresees an apparel arrangement that doesn’t expire until 2030.
Ye referred to the companies as his “new baby mamas.”
“I guess we’re just going to have to co-parent those 350s.”
As for the future, Ye plans on opening Donda campuses housing schools, shopping, classes, dorms, and farms. “Products sold there will be unique to Yeezy’s physical and online shops and designed by existing Yeezy staff,” per a Bloomberg report.
But the general public will still be able to get their hands on some Yeezys as he plans on continuing with the e-commerce site.
Since taking the feud to social media, Ye has accused the companies of “blatant copying.”
“No one should be held in that position where people can steal from them and say we’re just paying you to shut up. That destroys innovation. That destroys creativity. That’s what destroyed Nikola Tesla.”
Neither of the clothing brands has responded to Ye’s latest comments.
