What started as a late-night social media post has now turned into an active police matter. Katy Perry is currently under investigation in Australia after Ruby Rose accused her of sexual assault tied to an alleged 2010 incident in Melbourne, pushing the Perry investigation into global headlines.
Rose first made the claim in now-deleted Threads posts, writing, “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks.” She then doubled down with graphic detail, saying she was in her early 20s at the time. “She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted on her.”
The accusation quickly escalated beyond social media. While Rose initially said she would not file a police report, she later stated she had “finalized all of my reports” and would no longer be able to “comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases.”
Authorities confirmed the case is now active. In a statement, Victoria police said, “Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010… As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Perry’s camp is pushing back hard. A representative told Variety, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.”
As it stands, the investigation remains ongoing, with both narratives firmly at odds and legal stakes rising.
