After issuing a stern warning to Ray J, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have moved forward with a defamation lawsuit against the singer.
The legal move comes after Ray J claimed during a documentary appearance that the mother-daughter duo could be involved in a federal RICO case. The statements aired in “TMZ Presents: United States v. Sean Combs,” where Ray J said racketeering charges against the Kardashians would “make sense.”
The lawsuit slams Ray J’s remarks as “blatantly false,” accusing him of weaponizing their past relationship for attention.
“Unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago, Ray J has repeatedly sought to attach himself to Plaintiffs’ names and exploit their prominence for personal gain,” the complaint states.
Just last week, Ray J doubled down on his claims during a livestream with Chrisean Rock, stating, “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kim and Kris is about to be crazy.” He added, “The feds is coming. There’s nothing I can do about it.”
Kardashian and Jenner’s lawsuit emphasizes that no such federal investigation exists and argues these comments have harmed their reputations.
“No credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations,” the filing says.
Attorney Alex Spiro noted this is the first time either woman has filed a defamation suit, citing the severity of Ray J’s claims. Representatives for Ray J have not responded.
RICO laws typically target organized crime, and the lawsuit marks a rare and serious legal move from the Kardashian-Jenner camp.
