Lizzo is taking a firm stand against the legal drama that has overshadowed her career for the past year.

In a recent sit-down with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, the singer didn’t hold back when discussing the lawsuit brought forward by former backup dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez.
The claims, which include allegations of harassment and a toxic work environment, have been met with a total denial from the performer, who says she is ready to clear her name in a courtroom rather than behind closed doors.
“And I think most people would. I think it is an easy out, but I’m fighting the case because I know that it’s not true,” Lizzo shared. She made it clear that taking the “easy out” through a settlement isn’t an option for her, especially regarding accusations of fat-shaming.
While a judge previously dismissed claims related to weight shaming late last year, the rest of the case remains active. Lizzo told King she is actually eager for the process to move forward so the full story can be heard.
Fans can also expect to hear her perspective through her art. Her upcoming fifth album, titled “B*tch“, is set to be the platform where she reveals her personal reality of a trial. She joked that she’ll “look fabulous while doing it” if she has to take the stand, but her underlying message was one of complete confidence in her defense.
“The truth will come out, and that’s why I’m not afraid of it,” she said. “I’m not afraid of the truth. The truth is less salacious than the headlines.”
