The widow of Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Tenisha Warner, is stepping into the spotlight for a reason that goes far beyond fame.
Two months after the actor’s unexpected death in Costa Rica, Tenisha shared a powerful message with the public: she and their young daughter are moving forward with purpose. Together, they’re launching The Warner Family Foundation and a partner initiative called River & Ember, both created to support families and celebrate artistic expression in children.
“Thank you for holding us in so much love during this tender time,” Tenisha wrote on Instagram. “Tomorrow marks our anniversary, and my heart is wide open.”
She posted a wedding photo from 2017 and reflected on the laughter, compassion, and space her husband always offered her. But she also made it clear that this next chapter is about more than grief.
“Today, in his honor, my daughter and I are launching River & Ember and officially opening The Warner Family Foundation,” she said. “This is love, still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward.”
Tenisha described the foundation as an extension of Malcolm’s spirit.
“My husband believed in nurturing the inner light—not just in children, but in all of us,” she shared. “Through story and ritual, I hope to offer families what he gave us: a sense of being held, and a reason to keep tending to our light.”
Her message closed with a tribute only a wife could write: “To the river that carried us. To the ember that never goes out.”
