Speaking during Easter Sunday service, Cole-Sapp responded to online claims that the couple’s lavish celebration was financed by the church. The remarks followed widespread social media discussion about the scale of the event and its associated costs.
“The church didn’t pay for the wedding. Y’all stop lying,” she said while addressing the congregation. She also defended her husband’s character, adding, “You don’t take or rob the church.”
The couple married on March 20 at The Chosen Vessel Church in Fort Worth, Texas. The ceremony drew attention for its high-profile elements, including a helicopter entrance, multiple designer gowns, and extensive floral arrangements throughout the sanctuary.
Cole-Sapp stated that she personally paid for the helicopter entrance, which had become a focal point of online speculation.
“Everybody’s not broke, and everybody doesn’t need the church’s money. God’s been good, y’all,” she said.
She also noted that both she and Sapp have income sources outside of their roles within the church.
The wedding marked Sapp’s first marriage in 16 years following the death of his late wife, MaLinda Prince Sapp. The couple had reportedly been friends for more than a decade before beginning a relationship in 2024.
Cole-Sapp’s remarks represent the first direct response from the couple addressing claims about how the wedding was funded.

This man is a recording artist and I bet his new wife has a good paying job. I don’t think they would be foolish to disappoint God like that.
