A 1-month-old girl and a 9-year-old girl were both shot in the head in separate acts of violence in Chicago’s South Side on Thursday.
According to ABC News, the 1-month-old baby was shot, along with six others, shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday after three men got out of a black Cherokee Jeep and began shooting.
Earlier in the day in the same area, a 9-year-old girl was shot in the head while she sat in a car with a man that was also wounded. Both were taken to the hospital, and the little girl is listed in critical condition, while the man is listed in good.
According to Chicago PD data, Chicago has had almost 1,509 shootings incidents this year, as of June 27th. That number is a 12% increase from the 1,333 shootings in 2020 during the same timeframe.
The suspects in both shootings fled, and cops have not yet made any arrests in either case.
