The White House has announced that 100 million Americans have received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
This landmark was announced on Friday as the country continues to push toward a renewed sense of normalcy. This achievement is especially significant for President Joe Biden, who achieved the landmark in his first 100 days in office.
“Today, 100 million Americans are fully vaccinated—almost double the 55 million who were fully vaccinated just a month ago. Now, nearly 40% of all adults in this country are protected and, as the CDC outlined this week, are able to safely do outdoor activities without a mask,” the White House COVID-19 Response Team tweeted Friday. Nearly 55% of Americans have received at least one dose of the shot.

Jeff Zients, the White House COVID-19 response coordinator, reiterated the news during a briefing, stating that “That’s a hundred million Americans with a sense of relief and peace of mind, knowing that after a long and hard year, they’re protected from the virus.”
The Biden administration is focusing heavily on providing broader access to the vaccine and continuing to debunk myths and conspiracies surrounding the shot.
