An 11-year-old fifth-grade student at a
Florida school has been arrested for allegedly cornering a fellow classmate and threatening him with a box cutter.
According to authorities, the girl, whose name has not been released, approached the 5th-grade boy at Manatee Elementary School while he was eating breakfast with other students in the cafeteria on Thursday.
School authorities contacted the police to report the incident, saying the girl possibly had a knife in her possession and had allegedly whispered to the classmate, “I will kill you,” the Collier County Sheriff’s Office stated.
She is also accused of poking him in the back of his neck. The victim chose not to respond, but said the girl still followed him after he left the cafeteria and “cornered” him and “prevented him from leaving,” the report alleges. She also allegedly brandished a “white object” that had a blade, according to the report.
The Collier County officer noticed that the girl was hiding the box-cutter in the waistband of her leggings, the outlet reported.
Authorities were able to identify the weapon as a box cutter and charged the student with possession of a weapon on school grounds. She is also charged with aggravated battery.
The incident was also recorded on a school security camera, per the report.
