On Thursday night, a 12-year-old boy sitting in a parked car with two relatives was fatally shot in the head.
Police say a 20-year-old woman in the car was also shot as gunfire erupted on East 56th Street and Linden Boulevard in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, at around 7:45 p.m. as the trio ate.
The third person in the vehicle was an 8-year-old girl who was not injured.
Assistant Chief Mike Kemper, commanding officer of Brooklyn South, said during a press conference from the scene, “Once again, I’m standing here before you to brief you on another senseless shooting, this time a shooting involving the death of a 12-year-old child.”
One witness told The Post, “I saw the victim in the car; he wasn’t moving.”
The 20-year-old driver was struck in the right cheek and upper left leg and taken to Kings County hospital, where she is expected to recover.
Another witness told police that the two vehicles that fled nearly caused a car accident before escaping.
“I heard eight shots and I would say within 20 seconds of the shots, I saw a car on the corner facing East New York Avenue … and they almost got into an accident with oncoming traffic,” the witness said.
“We’re going to catch this shooter. But as long as we have guns and a revolving-door system, we’re going to continue to come to crime scenes like this. It’s time for it to stop.”
