A 12-year-old girl is accused of bringing stun guns to school and selling them to classmates, officials said.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Coleman Middle School student, who was not identified, was arrested Friday. The pre-teen was charged with possession of a weapon on school property.
An investigation began earlier in the day when a staff member alerted administrators that the student had a stun gun. When the school’s resource officer pulled her out of class, she admitted to selling three of them on Thursday. She told the officer that she purchased the devices online, intending to sell them.
On Friday, she had two black Viperteck stun guns in her possession. The devices retail on Amazon for around $9.99. The three stun guns the girl sold on Thursday have not been located, and it is unclear how much she sold them for.Â
The student was taken to Hillsborough Juvenile Detention Center.Â
