Thirteen people were shot at a Kroger supermarket Thursday afternoon in Collierville, Tennessee. One victim has been confirmed dead.
According to Police Chief Dale Lane, 12 victims were transported from the supermarket to nearby hospitals and the 13th arrived in a private vehicle.
Lane also confirmed that the suspect also died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities have not released the shooter’s identity.
Reports say victims suffered severe injuries in which the police chief said he’d never seen anything like this in his three decades in law enforcement.
The shooting is being investigated with the assistance of The ShelbyCounty Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
