A 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl is facing murder charges after admitting to killing her older sister on Monday morning.
Fox43 reports that Claire Miller is being charged as an adult since Pennsylvania does not have youthful offender status on homicide charges. She is expected to be transported to Lancaster County Prison after being arraigned on the homicide charges. She will not be eligible for bond.
According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Manheim Township Police Department was called to the home shortly after 1 a.m. early Monday morning after Miller called 9-1-1 and telling the dispatcher she killed her sister. The outlet reports she was hysterical, saying, “I killed my sister” over and over.
When police arrived, they found Miller outside and blood in the snow. Miller led first responders to a bedroom where Helen Miller, 19, was found with a knife in her neck. Lifesaving measures were attempted by officers and EMS but were not successful in saving the teen.
According to officials, the incident occurred while the girls’ parents were asleep.
The incident is still under investigation, and officials are working to “determine the circumstances that led to Helen Miller’s death.”
