We often complain about the younger generation but what 15-year-old Zaevion William Dobson of Knoxville, TN did for three young girls is something we could not overlook.
Dobson, a football player at Fulton High School, died shielding three girls from bullets. In a press conference Knoxville Police Department Chief David Rausch choked up while explaining the tragedy. “I want to start out by expressing my condolences to the families impacted by the violence last night, especially to the Dobson family for their loss,” he said.
Rausch believes this was a gang shooting, but that the kids that were targeted were no way involved. He believes the shooters picked a random group of young men and women that happened to be gathered at a house celebrating the holidays. A 10-year-old child was also inside the residence but was thankfully unharmed. “This cowardly and senseless acts of violence must stop. We ask for peace and I plea with the faith community, please pray for our community, but this stops now,” he said. “We should be preparing to celebrate the Christmas holiday, but now we have two young men who are dead and we have a woman in the hospital who is recovering from her wounds.”
46 year old Lisa Perry was struck multiple times in the lower back. Her son, Brandon Perry was shot and later died from his injuries.
Condolences to those lost from this senseless act of violence.
