Just hours after police identified Freddie Lee Trone as “a person involved” in the murder of PnB Rock, the shooter has been identified as Trone’s 17-year-old son.
In an exclusive report by TMZ, law enforcement sources say the minor has been arrested in connection to the case.
The incident occurred on September 12 at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles on the 100 block of West Manchester Avenue. Police said the rapper was enjoying lunch with his girlfriend when the shooter “entered the restaurant and approached” him. The man then shot the rapper and stole his jewelry before demanding property from his girlfriend and fleeing the scene. Trone drove the getaway vehicle.
Sources also confirmed that Trone and his son were already in the parking lot upon PnB’s arrival. This seemingly disproved the theory that the rapper was targeted because of his girlfriend’s Instagram posts. However, the publication reports that the two reportedly burned the car after the murder.
According to NBC LA, one suspect was arrested Tuesday morning during an operation that ended with Trone eluding officials. However, police have yet to confirm if the minor is the suspect from that report.
