As the trial approaches in connection to the 2014 shooting inside 1Oak, the club is looking to clear the names of its high profile guests that were in attendance.
The incident occurred at a VMA after-party inside 1Oak Nightclub, hosted by Chris Brown, with Suge Knight in attendance. Three people, including Suge Knight, were left with injuries, and both Brown and Knight were later sued for the shooting.
Though neither Brown nor Knight were accused of firing a shot in the incident, according to the Blast, the plaintiffs believe that their gang affiliations led to the shooting.

But now, as the trial approaches, the nightclub has asked a judge to protect the “reputation and character” of both Brown and Knight in the trial. In fact, in court documents obtained by The @blast, a lawyer for the club has requested it be deemed inadmissible character evidence in the trial.

“In this civil action,” the club said, “the purported gang affiliation of Knight or Brown is irrelevant to the issue of defendant’s negligence.”

“Painting Knight and Brown as scary black men with gang affiliations is an attempt to prejudice the jury against the defense and to rise some heightened sense of legal duty,” the attorney continued.
