According to DailyMail.com, Tony “TJ” Wiggins, 26, his girlfriend Mary Whittemore, 27, and brother Robert Wiggins, 21, have been arrested in connection to the “massacre” of three best friends who attended a fishing trip at a lake in Florida last week.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd described the crime scene as “horrific.”
“I’ve been to a lot of murder scenes in my life, and this ranks among the worst I’ve been to.”
TJ, who has been in legal trouble since the age of 12 and has 230 prior felonies, received more charges after he fatally shot Damion Tillman, 23, Brandon Rollins, 27, and Keven Springfield, 30 Friday evening.Â
After the deadly shooting, the suspects went straight to McDonald’s and ordered ten cheeseburgers and two McChicken sandwiches. The following day, Robert cleaned his truck to cover their tracks.
TJ, Robert, and Whittemore reportedly followed the victims to a remote fishing lake after overhearing their plans from Tillman in a local Dollar General store, Judd said.
Authorities said the altercation derived from a truck deal gone wrong.Â
TJ accused Springfield of stealing the engine out of his truck. After Springfield replied, “I don’t know what you are talking about,” TJ fired multiple shots at each victim, police said.
Tillman and Springfield died immediately, but Rollin managed to call his father for help after the attackers left, CBS News reported.Â
Rollin’s father, Cyril Rollins, made it to the scene within 10 minutes, where he found his son slowly dying on the ground next to his two deceased friends.
Judd revealed in an interview that Cyril, who witnessed his son die, is not doing well.
“[Rollins’ dad] is not doing well at all. In fact, later in the day, he had to go to the hospital as well. You can imagine the horrible shock to hear your son on the cellphone say ‘help.’ You rush to his side, you see his two best buddies shot dead, and he is shot and really taking his last breaths.”
Officials linked TJ, Robert, and Whittemore to the triple murder after discovering a Dollar General receipt at the crime scene and obtaining the store’s surveillance video.
On Monday, the suspects were found living in an isolated trailer, Judd said.
Polk County Sheriff Department charged TJ with three counts of first-degree murder, Whittemore with three counts of accessory to murder and Robert with three counts, of accessory to murder and tampering with evidence.
